Sigmoidoscopy is a diagnostic test used to check the sigmoid colon. It the lower and distal portion the large intestine close to the rectum.

In this procedure, a thin, flexible tube called a sigmoidoscope which has a tiny light and a camera. The tube is inserted through the anus and moved slowly through your rectum into the lower part of your colon.
